Shubman Gill top-scored with 112 as the hosts wrapped up a 3-0 series victory, following their 4-1 triumph in the preceding T20I series.

Despite losing Rohit Sharma inside the second over after just two balls, Gill led India’s charge, marking his 50th ODI with a superb century.

Virat Kohli chipped in with 52, while Shreyas Iyer (78) and KL Rahul (40) also notched decent contributions towards the cause of the hosts, who were eventually bowled out for 356, with Adil Rashid claiming 4-64 along the way.

Desperate to end a difficult tour on a high, England’s response initially looked promising at 126-2.

However, that became 175-8 as India swept through the middle order, and eventually dismissed their opponents for 214, way short of the target.

Data Debrief: Lucky seven for Gill

England were bowled out for the sixth time in their eight matches during this tour, losing nine wickets in the other two. It is their 10th defeat in 14 matches in this format since the 2023 World Cup.

Meanwhile, South Korea were knocked out by the defending champions, India, with a 1-4 defeat in the semi-final. In their pool stage encounter, South Korea had previously played to a 2-2 draw against their next opponent, Pakistan.

Despite the best efforts of Rashid, who notched his best figures in an ODI, it was very comfortable for India.

Gill played the starring role with 112 from 102 deliveries for his seventh century in this format, with no other Indian scoring more in their first 50 ODIs.

This was their second-biggest margin of victory over England in men’s ODIsgold99, only bettered by their 158-run win in Rajkot in 2008.
